Sam Bankman-Fried — founder of crypto exchange FTX and known by his initials SBF — acquired a 30% stake in SkyBridge Capital , an alternative investment firm. The deal was inked through SBF''s venture-capital firm FTX Ventures and will support growth initiatives for SkyBridge. SkyBridge, the hedge fund run by Anthony Scaramucci, will use the money from FTX to buy $40 million in cryptocurrencies, which it will hold on its balance sheet. The hedge fund''s decision to bet big on crypto comes during a tough patch for SkyBridge because its holdings of digital assets have plummeted and investors have sought redemptions from the fund. FTX, meanwhile, has been somewhat of a savior to the crypto space. The exchange has acquired crypto peers under financial duress, including the Bitvo Exchange in June , and expanded into products like stocks and options. This is likely because the U.S. Department of Commerce just disclosed information about how $50 billion allocated by Congress to the semiconductor sector via the CHIPS Act will be spent. Specifically, about $28 billion of the funds will be used to incentivize and subsidize chip manufacturing in the United States. The department will spend the funds several ways, including through “grants or cooperative agreements,” subsidized loans and loan guarantees. Intel Inks $30 Billion Financing Partnership With Brookfield To Fund Manufacturing Expansion Intel is taking a large step in expanding its manufacturing at a time when many in the market are counting the semiconductor company out. The former chip leader signed a $30 billion funding partnership with Brookfield Asset Management that will help finance its "massive factory expansion ambitions," a Tuesday morning report by the Wall Street Journal said. The deal could be the "first of many", according to the report, as Chief Executive Pat Gelsinger looks to make a manufacturing push over competitors based in Taiwan and South Korea. Intel will fund 51% of the cost of building new chip-making facilities in Arizona and will have a controlling stake in the financing entities that will own the factories. "Brookfield will own the remainder of the equity and the companies will split the revenue that comes out of the factories," Intel Chief Financial Officer David Zinsner told WSJ. Similar deals are often seen in energy and telecommunications, and are only now moving into semiconductors because of the industry''s growing need for expansion.

These factories will support the company’s long-term demand for its products, as well as its demand from Intel Foundry Services customers. David Zinsner, CFO at Intel, said this about the funding deal. “Our agreement with Brookfield is a first for our industry, and we expect it will allow us to increase flexibility while maintaining capacity on our balance sheet to create a more distributed and resilient supply chain.” Intel’s commitment to manufacturing more semiconductors will likely benefit INTC stock in the long term.
