Ahead of bringing its Arc desktop GPUs to everyone in a couple of weeks, Intel has revealed more details about what to expect from the graphics cards in terms of specs and performance. The A770, which starts at $329 , will have 32 Xe cores, 32 ray-tracing units and a 2,100MHz graphics clock. In terms of RAM, it comes in 8GB and 16GB configurations, with up to 512 Gb/s and 560 Gb/s of memory bandwidth, respectively. As for the A750, which Intel just announced will start at $289, that has 28 Xe cores, 28 ray-tracing units, a 2,050MHz graphics clock, 8GB of memory and up to 512 Gb/s of memory bandwidth. All three cards, which will be available on October 12th, have 225W of total power. Intel claims that, based on benchmarking tests, you''ll get more bang for your buck with these cards than NVIDIA''s mid-range GeForce RTX 3060 . It says the A770 offers 42 percent greater performance per dollar vs. the RTX 3060, while the A750 is seemingly 53 percent better on a per-dollar basis. It claims that, in most of the games it tested, the A770''s 16GB configuration delivered better ray-tracing performance than the similarly priced RTX 3060 (which, in fairness, debuted back in early 2021 ).

INTEL CORP., looking to regain its footing in the chip industry, introduced new personal computer processors and graphics semiconductors, as well as software that makes it easier to use the company’s technology. Intel’s latest Core desktop processors will provide gamers and other high-performance users with a significant boost, the company said at its Innovate event Tuesday in San Jose, California. A new graphics chip for data centers, meanwhile, is aimed at challenging Nvidia Corp.’s hold on that market. That product, called Ponte Vecchio, has been shipped for use in a new government super computer. Chief Executive Officer (CEO)Pat Gelsinger is trying to restore Intel to its former dominance, and the Innovate presentation is part of that. The chipmaker had hosted a well-attended product showcase called the Intel Developer Forum until 2017, when then-CEO Brian Krzanich scrapped the event. Now Mr. Gelsinger, in his second year, is bringing the stage show back. The stakes are high. Unison will sync up photos and more. | Image: Intel Intel has announced an intriguing new app called Unison, which aims to “seamlessly” connect Intel-powered computers to smartphones — not just Android phones but iOS devices as well. Following what Intel says is a “simple pairing process,” the Unison app will allow PCs to replicate four key features of the connected phone. They can answer and make calls; they can share photos and files (pictures taken with the phone will show up in a specific Unison gallery on the PC); they can send and receive texts; and they can receive (and, in some cases, respond to) notifications that the phone receives — though if Unison is closed, they’ll go to the Windows notification center. “The advantage we can bring to a PC user that’s got a well-designed Windows PC is not having to choose their device based on the PC they have. They have an iPhone, they have an Android phone, any device they want to use will be able to connect with this capability,” Josh Newman, Intel’s VP and GM of mobile innovation, told The Verge . “When you’re … on your laptop, and you get notifications or texts on your phone, you can keep it in your bag and get right back into the flow of your work.” iOS users, Newman says, may see “subtle differences” from the experience of Android owners using Unison, but most of the core capabilities will be the same.

Intel used to be a headline grabber, but few folks are truly excited about this year’s “Innovation” conference . That’s because Intel has lost its mojo, its competitive edge. Other chipmakers, both domestically and abroad, have taken the mantle of market leader from Intel. This lackluster performance is reflected in the share price, which has been cut in half this year. Finding S&P 500 stocks to buy on the dip can be tough since it’s not clear how much more they’ll dip. There’s no respite for stock market investors this fall. As long as Fed Chair Jerome Powell keeps hiking interest rates aggressively, it seems that the market will be under further pressure. Indexes took another sharp turn lower this week following the latest Fed move, and there’s no pause in sight yet. Pundits are focused primarily on inflation and macroeconomic conditions at the moment. And that’s understandable. However, when the stock market falls this far this fast, investors willing to step into the arena can grab some compelling opportunities. Let’s be clear, there’s no sign that the S&P 500 is set to bottom in the near term, so there is some risk in these S&P 500 stocks to buy on the dip. Chair Powell made it very clear in his speech this week that inflation remains persistently too high and that the Fed has a ways to go in reining in inflation. The current market struggles could easily persist into 2023.

Escobar: The Real US Agenda In Africa Is Hegemony Authored by Pepe Escobar via The Cradle, Forget development. Washington''s primary interest in Africa today is keeping the Chinese and Russians out… In a rational environment, the 77th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) would discuss alleviating the trials and tribulations of the Global South, especially Africa. That won’t be the case. Like a deer caught in the geopolitical headlights, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issued platitudes about a gloomy “winter of global discontent,” even as the proverbial imperial doomsayers criticized the UN’s “crisis of faith” and blasted the “unprovoked war” started by Russia. Of course the slow-motion genocide of Donbass russophone residents for eight years would never be recognized as a provocation. Guterres spoke of Afghanistan, “where the economy is in ruins and human rights are being trampled” – but he did not dare to offer context. In Libya, “divisions continue to jeopardize the country” – once again, no context.
