Amazon has quietly built out an ad-supported TV platform and formally pitched it to advertisers for the first time in May with an eye-popping stat: 120 million people watch its ad-supported video, from 20 million in January 2020. Four ad buyers who spoke with Insider gave Amazon''s pitch mixed reviews. They said that Amazon has strong targeting data and pricing competitive with other streamers. Its ad load is also lower than linear TV with six minutes of ad time per hour comparable to other streaming services and down significantly from linear TV''s average of 22 minutes. But they said that Amazon lacks compelling content to nab TV budgets. Like other streamers, Amazon hasn''t made a big dent in that business. Mike McHale, head of activation at ad agency Noble People, estimated that only 5% of OTT ad budgets come from linear TV budgets with the rest coming from digital. Amazon''s pitch comprises four properties: Fire TV: Amazon''s streaming device housing publishers'' apps.
New Delhi, July 17 (IANS) More than 80 per cent of millennials and Gen Zies in India have found hope in Covid-19 vaccination by using emojis as a medium to express themselves, a new report has said. While the joining hands emoji emerged as the most used one as part of vaccination drive-related conversations among those aged between 18-25 and 25+ years, the emoji with laughing tears continues to enjoy the top position, the report by AI innovation start-up Bobble AI said on World Emoji Day. The report is based upon privacy-compliant data sourced from more than 64 million devices (without any personally identifiable information) across India in the last one-year period. The ''Emoji with Laughing Tears'' has topped the chart since the last three years with over 10 million people using it on a daily basis. It emerged as the most preferred emoji in the age group of 18-25 years. "With people working remotely, there has been a significant rise in online chatting and with that comes the rise in sharing suitable emojis to depict the emotion most effectively," said Ankit Prasad, Co-Founder and CEO, Bobble AI. "Quite clearly, varied aspects related to the pandemic and cancellation of IPL season has dominated the minds of Millennials and Gen Zies in the last one-year period," he added.

Americans responded to the stress of the pandemic by drinking more a lot more for some and there''s a risk that those habits could stick. Why it matters: Excessive drinking is connected to a variety of health and social ills, but the growing ubiquity of alcohol in daily life can make cutting back harder than ever. By the numbers: Americans started drinking more as soon as the pandemic began in full last year data from Nielsen showed a 54% increase in national alcohol sales year-on-year in the week ending on March 21, 2020. And as the pandemic wore on, so did Americans'' drinking. A survey from late 2020 found 75% of Americans increased their alcohol intake during the pandemic to include at least one more day per month, while women, in particular, increased their alcohol intake by 39% compared to 2019. Another survey conducted by the American Psychological Association this year found nearly one in four Americans reported drinking more specifically to combat pandemic-related stress, and a separate study found women had a greater increase in excessive drinking than men, to the point that their intake levels were almost equal .
